About us

Meet The Team

Welcome to your online edition of North Waikato’s Community Newspaper. As the new owners of the Chatter News we look forward to continuing the great work of Jim and Karen but also adding to the publication through our 20 years experience with another community newspaper in the Waikato. The Chatter has been in print since 1999 and over the years it has gone through many changes from being a monthly publication printing 5000 copies per month to now publishing every two weeks with a print run of 9000 copies fortnightly.

Chatter does not have reporters and we rely on community involvement to supply us with good news editorial content. Chatter is more of a magazine styled local newspaper with many contributors having been part of our team since the papers birth.

Regular contributors provide us with a range of topics from gardening, fishing, cooking you name it that’s “Chatter” Quoted from the Collins English Dictionary “Chatter to speak about unimportant matters”, this is certainly not the case with our paper, our communities are the life blood of Chatter, it is their paper filled with their stories. Chatter covers all of North Waikato both urban and rural from Ngaruawahia in the south through Taupiri, Orini, Huntly & Te Kauwhata to Meremere. With approx. 3,500 papers going to our rural communities throughout North Waikato.

This is your paper, the voice of your community so feel free to send in suggestions. It might be a 'good sort', doing 'good stuff' in the community who we should meet and interview. Let us know about achievements across the generations, innovative businesses/farming, creative journeys and environmental matters.

You can email us at info@chatternews.co.nz, or feel free to call us 021428808 if you want to discuss advertising or content contribution. We would love to hear from you.
