On Tuesday 2 June 2026 members of this Branch, along with guests, met at the “Woodlands” Historic Homestead where two beds of “Rural Women” roses developed especially to celebrate the centenary along with the plaque which was made and donated by Robin Singers and dedicated by Bronwyn Main, RWNZ Board Member and Centennial Chairperson.
Bronwyn was introduced by Branch President, Laurel Blissett, and spoke of the Centennial Book which will be published later this year and covers the first 100 years of RWNZ.
After the dedication the group retired to the Woodlands Cafe to enjoy a delicious lunch followed by a most interesting account from Melissa Gay of her voluntary time spent nursing on the Mercy Hospital Ship based in Seirra Leone. Melissa thanked the groups who had given her financial assistance for this venture and the impact this experience had made.
