Te Kauwhata Community House loans a wide range of medical and mobility equipment to community members living in Te Kauwhata & Districts.
Walkers, wheel chairs, shower stools, commodes and more can provide short term assistance to people recovering from illness or injury, assist people waiting for delivery of equipment through other agencies such as ACC or support visiting family members who may need additional supports while in the area. Loans are by koha and available for up to 3 months (or longer by special arrangement). One of the items available through the Community House, for many years, has been a hospital-level care bed which has served primarily as a hospice bed. This bed has enabled many families to care for a loved one through end of life in their own home.
This month Te Kauwhata Lions purchased a brand new bed for the community. The bed is a welcome addition ensuring the Community House can continue to meet community need. The bed was officially handed over by Te Kauwhata Lion’s President Mark Wilson to Te Kauwhata Community House Manager Angela McKee. It has many modern features that our previous bed did not. Functionality includes electric rising and lowering, lifting and lowering options for feet and head, specialist mattress and optional safety rails. Pictured in the bed is Community House Assistant Lynda Halverson who gives the bed a 5 star comfort review.
If you have a friend or family member in Te Kauwhata or surrounding districts (Meremere to Ohinewai, Glen Murray to Waerenga) who has need of the hospital-level care bed please contact Te Kauwhata Community House on 07 826 4303 or [email protected]. We will arrange delivery and set up. We also offer a range of other services to support your family through end of life journeys and the period that follows the loss of a loved one.
The staff and Board of the Te Kauwhata Community House thank Te Kauwhata Lions for their service and dedication to our community. We are incredibly grateful for this gift and know what an important role it will play in the lives of many in our community.
