Huntly’s lucky Lotto store has produced a local millionaire after one man claimed all four First Division prizes from the same draw.
The four winning lines, worth $250,000 each, were sold on one ticket at The Bookshop and Lotto on Main Street.
When the results were first announced, store owners Vaibhav Chokshi and his wife Jalpa did not know whether the prizes belonged to one person or four different players.
“The prize for each ticket will be $250,000 each. But whether four people have those tickets or one person bought all four, we don’t know,” Vaibhav said at the time.
Lotto NZ later confirmed a regular local player had selected the same six Lotto numbers on four lines, with a different Powerball number on each.
The winner did not initially realise he had won the full $1 million. After reading reports that the four winning lines may have been on one ticket, he returned to the store to have it checked.
He has remained anonymous and said the money would be used to support his family.
“We sell a lot of Lotto tickets, and we have had prizes won before. But this is certainly the first time that all four winning tickets were sold here. Good on Huntly!” Vaibhav said.
