Eight-year-old motocross rider wins two New Zealand championship titles after an outstanding performance at the 2026 Mini Motocross Nationals.
Huntly’s rising motocross talent, eight-year-old Jackson Slater, has achieved an outstanding milestone after claiming two national championship titles at the 2026 New Zealand Mini Motocross Nationals, held at the South Waikato Motocross Track in Tokoroa on October 3 and 4.
The event brought together mini motocross riders from across New Zealand to compete for the coveted number one title in their respective classes, with Jackson proving to be a standout competitor across both of his divisions.
Competing in the premier 6–8-year-old 50cc class and the premier 7–8-year-old 65cc class, Jackson delivered an exceptional performance across 10 races, winning nine of them and consistently demonstrating his skill, speed and determination.
His impressive results secured him the 1NZ championship title in both the 50cc and 65cc classes, a remarkable achievement for such a young rider.
Winning one national title is a significant accomplishment, but claiming two titles at the same event makes Jackson’s success even more special. His double championship win also makes him the first-ever mini rider to achieve double titles at a national event, following in the footsteps of fellow Kiwi rider Cole Davies.
With the 2026 Mini Motocross Nationals now behind him, Jackson will turn his attention to the next challenge: preparing for the Junior Motocross Nationals, scheduled to be held in April 2027.
Jackson and his supporters will no doubt be looking forward to seeing what he can achieve next as he continues to develop his racing career.
A big thank you goes to Jackson’s sponsors for their support and contribution to his motocross journey: BuiltSmart Huntly, NV Motorcycles, P1 Moto, Carter Coaching, 110 Racing, Bridgestone Huntly, Slater 2010, Kris Slater Cartage and AnyGap.
Their support plays an important role in helping Jackson pursue his passion and compete at the highest level.
Congratulations to Jackson Slater on an outstanding double national championship win and a fantastic achievement for Huntly!
