On Wednesday 17 June 2026, a beautiful display of wool blankets and other knitted goods was held at St Margaret’s Church Hall, Te Kauwhata.
Many people have been busy knitting and crocheting during the year to support this project, which is helping the poor and marginalised in Eastern Europe, mainly Moldova, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, millions have been displaced, so the need for gifts of warm blankets and items of clothing is as great as ever, especially when winter temperatures can fall as low as -30°C.
Items displayed included:
Large blankets: 30
Hats: 82
Slippers/socks: 17
Jerseys: 19
Scarves: 2
A very big thank you to all who made the display a success and to those who donated towards freight costs. A total of $500 was raised for freight.
We look forward to your continuing support over the coming year.
